Version 3.0 of 7Pass and 7Pass Free are now available globally on MarketPlace.
This version was a major step forward for 7Pass, from a reader to a full feature password manager for Windows Phone.
This is the same version as the Release Candidate, so you can see the changes and errors fixed in this release there:
This version will not be possible without the help of:
- The excellent KeePass 2.x desktop application.
- Sebastian for providing testing and feedback, even after my mistake that required him to hard reset his phone.
- Damian Karzon for his DropNet library, which made working with DropBox so much easier.
- Any many other 7Pass users who made it such an interesting experience working on 7Pass.
PS: As with all previous version, there’s no different between Paid, Trial and Free versions of 7Pass. These versions are there only so that it’s easier for users to give me a buck if he finds 7Pass is good enough. The notification of free/trial version is now only shown 5 times, so the user knows which version he’s using, and then disappear forever (or after you uninstall 7Pass and install again).

what a good morning, to see, that 3.0 is now at the marketplace. My Phone is updating at this time. It was not you mistake with the hardreset. it was time for me to start new with the phone, because there was so much grap in the meantime with it. so it was no real problem. it was a great experience to help you testing the new version and i could use the new features since the first steps.

Hi..I just updated to the new version, but seeing some issues. I had a kdbx file from Dropbox. Earlier I could long press and update the latest file from Dropbox. Now that option is not available. When I click on …, I see an option to update/synchronize All, but it is disabled. How do I update the database?
Also I added an entry to the wallet on the phone, and I got a toast notification that it is not possible to synchronize. Please help.
Never mind, I just removed the file I had and re-added it and it works fine!!! THank you, this works great.
Another question – dont see a way to add custom fields when adding an entry from the phone. Is that not possible, or am I missing something?

Yes, did not handle existing DropBox data, so removing and adding it again will fix that. It’s good that the toast message did its job.
Regarding the custom fields, add/removing is not supported yet at the moment. I’m not very sure about when this feature will be available as I have other features that will be given higher priority.
I’d want to wait for 1 week for feedbacks regarding the new version and then will come up with:
– Common issues with the new version (hopefully not too many).
– New features and changes for the next version.
– Review of the analytics data received from the new version.

Bit confused over the saving/synchronising of database though…
I downloaded a fresh copy of my database from my web site (Windows Server 2003/IIS), along with the key and can open the database fine.
If I open an entry, and edit a field when I click on the “Save” icon I get the following message:
DB not synchronizable
Changes saved but won’t be synchronized
due to source type (Web Server/Demo DB).
(Not that the message appears in a blue rectangle near the top of the screen, and it disappears very quickly – would be useful if it remained visible for longer.)
Any ideas on this issue? Is syncing/saving not possible when the database is downloaded like this, e.g. only possible with DropBox, WebDav?

Hi John,
Synchronization cannot be done for databases downloaded from a Web Server. The normal web server will only “serve” documents, and each may have a unique way to upload files, or not supporting at all. They also lack the ability to determine file’s last modified time (some use cache settings, but not all).
You may want to try DropBox or WebDAV (box.net for example).

I’ve tried in my phone and indeed, the Notes box doesn’t accept Enter key to create new line. Will include this in the next update.

Loving the app and amazed by your generosity in giving it away.
One feedback: the Home button blasts me back to the DB selector screen, instead of the DB root. I see that this button is greyed out when I’m in the DB root, and there is a separate “Select database” button, so I guess the Home button is meant to take me back to DB root and thus it behaves incorrectly.
In the former version i could tap and hold the database-name and then could tab on “update” to get newer version of db-file from my webserver. that doesn’t work anymore.
“Update” is changed to “Synchronize” or “Synchronize all”. But it means the same: load a new version from the server, if there is a newer version there, or upload it, if the version on the device is newer.
But this point is grey/not activated so i can’t tab.
Do you have download any new Database to your handset? I have (after installing version 3) downloaded a fresh database from Dropbox and both Sync Entrys are there. The one, when you make a long tap on the database and the one when you raise the bottom bar.
Ahhhh. Deleting the old file first was the thing. now everything is well. Many thanks!
